Split Second
Without really knowing much about Baldacci, I dove into this first book of King and Maxwell. Featuring two Secret Serivce Agents-one former and one current-who have to unravel a monster conspiracy or die trying. I picked this up because I'm interested in the TV show coming out and wanted to read the book first. I could tell this was written by a lawyer-lots of talking, lots of explaining, lots of making sure the i's are dotted just so. I felt at times frustrated that we weren't making progress but rather hanging out and talking about what came before hand-or wallowing in the story, as a friend calls it. However, the story intrigued me and I wanted to know who was behind the conspiracy.
By the end, I thought some of the plot points were a little cliched but I did finish the book. It was one of those books that I had enough quibbles with it but the basic plot and storyline kept me intrigued. I am going to try the next book in the series, but I wouldn't really recommend this unless you're either a Baldacci fan or interested in the beginning of this series.
